Gov. Rick Scott announced four of the 13 people who will serve on the first Board of Trustees of the new Florida Polytechnic University in Lakeland on Friday.
They are:
Mark Bostick, 58, of Lake Wales, president of trucking firm Comcar Industries and an active supporter of the effort last year to separate USF Polytechnic from the University of South Florida;
Robert Gidel, 60, of Windemere, a managing partner of Liberty Capital Advisors;
Scott Hammack, 46, of Naples, chief executive officer of Prolexic, which provides computer protection services;
Kevin Hyman, 62, of Winter Haven, executive vice president of operations at Bright House Networks.
Scott has two more choices to make. The state university Board of Governors, which named four trustees this week, will name one more.
The board will also include a faculty and student representative.
